Curling started in Parry Sound circa 1878 with people curling on Georgian Bay. Subsequently, the Granite Club was formed in 1898 with its first building on Gibson Street. Early founders and curlers included Alex Logan, The Beattie family, the Tudhope family, the Gilchrist’s, Holmes and many more.
The club moved to its current location, opening its doors in 1954. The Granite Club later became the Parry Sound Curling Club. Ladies and Mixed curling were introduced along the way. Junior programs were introduced.
Curling continues to flourish at the Curling Club on Johnson Street and is a vibrant part of the community, providing curling opportunities to people of all ages.
